This is a mock-up of my front cover for my school magazine.
I have decided to use the school colours (red and navy) for the school magazine, as these are colours that the school are associate with. The background of the magazine will be fully covered with a mid shot image of a sixth form pupil with the school in the background. This is to intise the pupils to buy it as they will see someone they 'look up' to on the front cover.
I will have four puffs on my front page, this will let the customer see what else will be in the magazine. They will spread around the page to make them standout against the image. They will be in a professional font and alternate in the two colours I have chosen.
The title will be spread across the whole of the top of the magazine. This will become the brand name that they will buy. It will be in a large, handwritten font to make is stand out and to act as a 'logo'. Underneath the title will be a slogan or catch line. This will give a bit of extra information to the reader about what the magazine is about or what it is likely to include. This font will be the same as the puffs, to show that it isd a realiable magazine.
This is the mock-up for my contence page.
I decided to use the same colour scheme on the contence page, to keep continuity. I will put the title of the magazine in the right top corner, this will mean it won't distract people from the magazine content, but people will still be aware of its presence.
I decided to use the words "this week" insted of contence page as this is informal, yet still clearly describes what the page is being used for.
At the bottom of the page there will be two images, inbetween which will be some text about the images.
I will use two images that realte to two other stories that are featured in the magazine. For instance an image of 'teacher of the month' or someting similar. This keeps the page looking balanced and with not an overload of writing. This is becuase the target audience will be 13 to 16 year olds, who generally speaking do not enjoy masses of reading.
